The John Pounds Centre champions a variety of community projects. FoodCycle Portsmouth uses surplus fresh food collected from local food stores, a team of volunteers prepare hot and nutritious meals each week for those most in need of a community meal.
This role involves coordinating and leading the 'Hub’s' cooking sessions, supporting volunteers in the kitchen to create fantastic three-course meals! The Kitchen Hub Leader will work with the volunteers to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and safely.
This is a great way to use your existing culinary genius for good, while developing new cooking skills, team leadership and recipe ideas.
Whether you want to gain experience to boost your CV, or put the skills you already have to good use, becoming a Hub Leader is a unique volunteering opportunity to take real responsibility for leading and developing a community project in your local area.
The Kitchen Leader will work consciously to make the most of the ingredients, by ensuring there is not any excess food left at the end of the night.
It will be the Kitchen Leaders objective to ensure the quality of the food is high and served on time. Obtaining continuous levels of hygiene and cleanliness, and returning the donated kitchen space to it's clean and tidy state at the end of each session. You will work with up to 6 kitchen volunteers.
